How to fit an integrated dishwasher

So, you’ve opted for an integrated dishwasher instead of a freestanding model for a seamless look, but you’re unsure how to fit it into your unit? Whether you’re a beginner or a DIY enthusiast purchasing your first integrated dishwasher, our step-by-step guide aims to help ease the installation process from start to finish.

Step by Step process

  1. Check the dimensions of your new dishwasher and measure the space under the kitchen counter, allowing room at the back for pipes where you intend to install your dishwasher.
Please note: The space should accommodate a standard full-size dishwasher measuring 60cm wide x 56cm deep x 82 cm tall.
  2. Ensure the space chosen has access to water supply, drainage, and electrical connections before removing the cabinet door if that’s already fitted.
  3. Next, slide your dishwasher into place, aligning it with the cabinet and ensuring that it is level (use a spirit level to check this – if it isn’t level, adjust the feet if your model has adjusting feet)
Please note: Your dishwasher may have rollers attached to prevent floor damage. If there aren’t any, we advise using furniture sliders.
  4. Connect the water supply hose to the inlet valve.
  5. Connect the draining hose to the sink.
Please note: Follow your manufacturer’s instruction manual for further information and specific requirements.
  6. Next, secure your dishwasher to the countertop using brackets (check if these are included).
  7. Finally, attach the cabinet door to the front of your dishwasher using brackets (check if these are included).

How to Remove an Integrated Dishwasher Door

Are you upgrading your cabinetry? If so, you’ll need to completely remove the cabinet door in preparation. Here’s how:

  1. First, for your safety, ensure that your dishwasher is switched off and disconnected from the power supply.
  2. Next, open the dishwasher door fully and locate the screws on the hinges that attach the cabinet door to the cabinet frame, at the top or either side, depending on how your dishwasher opens. Unscrew and remove them.
  3. Then, remove the brackets or clips that may be securing the cabinet door to your dishwasher – Unscrew and remove or unclip them.
  4. Once all screws, brackets, or clips are removed or unclipped, lift the cabinet door and detach from the hinges with care.
  5. Check that the hinges are intact and ready for reinstallation of your cabinet door (if you intend to remove the hinges entirely, keep them in a safe place until needed).
