Top things to consider when buying a fridge

1. How much space do I need?

Before you set your sights on a fridge, make sure to measure your available space carefully. When positioning your new fridge you’ll need to leave a 2-3cm gap around the sides of the fridge and a 5cm gap at the back. This gives the fridge plenty of room for ventilation to make sure it doesn’t over heat and works efficiently.

2. What type should I go for?

Integrated and under counter fridges are ideal for saving space and counter top fridges come in great for students. Freestanding fridges come in all different sizes, if you have the space a large freestanding fridge can be great for big households. Wine coolers are great for storing a collection in premium conditions, whilst drinks chillers are ideal for loading all your cans in without hogging space in your homes main fridge.

3. Which features should I look out for?

Many of the modern fridge designs now include some of the top essential features, such as auto-defrost, to prevent icy build ups and hygiene protection to keep your food safe. Fridges with super cool come in ideal when you’ve just been to the shops and stocked the fridge, they’ll quickly chill your food to lock in quality. Spill proof shelving is great for busy family fridges, an accidental spillage will be isolated to the one shelf, keeping the rest of the fridge clean. And fridges with dynamic or multi-flow air provide even and consistent cooling to every level, keeping food fresher for longer and helping the fridge recover its optimum temperature faster after its been opened.
