Hi Julia,You use both carbon filters, fitting one on each side of the fan inside the cooker hood, but only if it recirculates air back into the kitchen, and you fit them by turning off the hood, removing the metal filter, clipping the carbon filters onto each side of the motor, and then replacing the metal filter.Thanks!
