Unsure what extraction rate you need? Use our handy calculator

Extraction Rate Calculator

Use our handy calculator, to help figure out exactly what extraction rate you require for your kitchen.

What are the kitchen dimensions?

What is an extraction rate?

Cooker hoods come with different extraction rates, which determine how quickly the air is changed in the kitchen. It’s recommended that your cooker hood should change the air around 10 times per hour. So, the larger the kitchen the higher the extraction rate.

The extraction rate your kitchen needs all depends on its size. The faster the extraction rate the faster the air will be cleaned, although the noise level may go up, so faster isn’t always better. Take a look at how to work out your extraction rate above.

The Smeg Cucina KSEC61X is a 60 cm wide conventional hood in stainless steel.

This model has 3 speeds that can be selected by push button controls and it has two metal grease filters. There are two light bulbs to illuminate your hob. The motor gives you an extraction rate of 116-240 cubic metres per hour, which is ideal for kitchens up to 30 cubic metres, and a noise level of 39-56 decibels.

As a conventional extractor the KSEC61X can be installed to re-circulate the air into the kitchen or to be ducted out. If you are choosing to re-circulate you’ll need a KITC2R charcoal filter kit and if you’re ducting out you’ll need a ducting kit with a 120mm diameter.
