However, the charcoal filter is a consumable part and will need replacing over time if the hood is used in recirculation mode, as it becomes less effective at removing odours. If the hood is ducted to an external vent, the charcoal filter is not required at all.

The charcoal filters are used only in recirculation mode, cannot be washed, and should be replaced approximately every four months depending on usage.
