It’s now time to find the right TV bracket to display your screen. This isn’t as tricky as it may sound, because most TVs come with mounting advice from their manufacturer. However, if you’ve misplaced your manual, or you’re looking for some quality, third-party suggestions, then you’ve come to the right place.
There are three main types of TV brackets – wall, ceiling and standing. Wall and ceiling mounts are usually the most popular choice because they can make a room feel larger and tidier by not taking up floor space. They also offer additional height, which will protect your screen from unnecessary knocks as people walk past. The best place to start when looking for a TV bracket is by finding your VESA dimensions.
How to find your VESA dimensions
You'll have seen the term 'VESA dimensions' written in plenty of places before now. But what does this actually mean? Well, VESA, or Video Electronics Standards Association to you and me, defines the standard distance between the four predrilled holes in the back of a TV, for mounting a bracket. Each screen has specific requirements. The most common sizes are:
Choosing your ideal TV mount
Wall, standing and ceiling brackets each have their own benefits. Let’s take a closer look.
TV wall brackets
A TV wall bracket is a great way to display a television. It sits close to the wall without taking up unnecessary floor space and leaves enough room for the wires or cables behind. There are several types of wall bracket to choose from – some even incorporate a handy shelf. Take some time to look at your room and consider the best wall to mount your TV.
Top tip: avoid installing your TV in front of or opposite a window.
Tilting TV brackets
Enjoy the ultimate viewing experience with a tilted TV bracket. These mounts are perfect for screens placed high on a wall and reduce glare and reflections.
Flat TV bracket
If you often sit directly in front of your television, a flat wall mount TV bracket is ideal. Bear in mind; these brackets cannot be adjusted, so position it at your perfect viewing height.
Articulating TV bracket
An articulating TV bracket, also known as a full-motion bracket, offers the widest field of view. It sits on an arm and allows you to pan, tilt and swivel your screen in any direction.
Standing TV mount
If you wish to position your TV on a table or flat surface, a standing TV mount is a perfect solution. They’re simple to install, easy to move and designed to hide unsightly cables. Most standing TV mounts allow you to tilt, swivel or pan your screen on demand. And have a neutral design to match the television or surrounding area.
Ceiling TV mount
If you're short on wall space, a TV bracket for your ceiling may be the ideal solution. However, before purchasing one, remember to check that your ceiling can support your TV's weight.
