How to clean as TV screen

How to clean a TV screen

You’ve invested in a state-of-the-art TV and want to keep it in tip-top condition. But what’s the best way to keep your TV’s screen clean, and maintain the perfect viewing experience?

Follow our easy steps to a sparkling clean screen.

  1. Always turn your TV off and unplug it before you start. It’s safer, and easier to see any dirt on a dark screen.
  2. We advise using a microfibre cloth. If you don’t have one, a glasses-cleaning cloth works just as well. Avoid using paper towels, kitchen roll or tissues, as they can be abrasive and may scratch the screen.
  3. Wipe the screen carefully in a circular motion, removing any greasy marks, dust or fingerprints. Make sure you don’t press too hard.
  4. For any hard-to-remove spots, dampen your cloth with a little water, then wipe the whole screen gently until any marks disappear.
  5. To deep-clean your screen, you could use a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. Lightly dampen your cloth with the solution and gently wipe the screen in a circular motion. Did you know? White vinegar is a great natural and cost-effective cleaner, which has been shown to kill bacteria and even E. coli. But be careful as it’s acidic, so don’t let it come into contact with any internal TV parts.
  6. When the screen is completely streak-free, clean the TV’s frame and back – a quick wipe with your microfibre cloth should suffice.
  7. Let your TV air-dry, so any moisture has totally disappeared before you turn it back on.
  8. Finally, give your remote control a clean. Remotes can harbour all sorts of nasties and should be cleaned frequently. We recommend disinfectant wipes.

TV cleaning tips

  • Clean your TV regularly, at least once a week.
  • Never spray any liquid directly onto your TV screen, as it could cause permanent damage.
  • Always check your TV’s user guide for cleaning instructions. If you don’t follow these, you could void your warranty.
  • Never try and clean the inside of your TV.

Now sit back and watch your favourite movie, with no smudges or dust to distract you. Popcorn, anyone?
