How to connect your Sky remote to your TV

Got a Sky remote you need to connect to your smart TV? No problem. Getting connected should be very quick and easy. Let’s go through these simple steps.

Sky Q Remote

Sky Q Remote

If you’re using a Sky Q remote, here’s what you need to do.

  • First, switch on your TV and Sky.
  • Press the Home button on your remote.
  • Navigate using the arrow buttons to Settings > Setup > Remote Control.
  • Select your remote’s model – e.g. Sky Q Touch or Sky Q Voice Control.
  • Select Control your TV.
  • Next choose Find it for me, to find the brand of your TV.
  • Scroll down and select the first letter of your TV’s brand – e.g. L for LG. Next, to find the model number, click Find it for me. Your TV will now display a numeric code.
  • Hold down numbers 1 and 3 together, for 2 seconds. A red light will flash at the top of your remote. Let go of the buttons, then enter the numeric code.
  • Test to see if your remote and TV are connected by pressing the volume buttons on your remote. If they work to adjust the volume on your TV, you’re good to go - select Yes and you’re finished.
  • If nothing happens when you press the volume buttons, select No, try another and repeat the steps above.
  • Once connected, your Sky remote control will fully control your TV, and you’ll only need one remote.

Sky+ Remote

If you have a Sky+ remote, connecting it to your TV is a slightly different process. Follow these easy steps.

  • Press TV on your Sky+ remote.
  • Hold down the select and red buttons together, until the red light on your remote flashes twice.
  • Press TV again.
  • Now you need to enter your four-digit TV brand code. You’ll find this in your Sky user manual, or you can find it online in Sky’s help pages.
  • When you’ve entered the code, the red light on your remote should flash twice, to show the code has been accepted.
  • Press Select to store the code.
  • Test to see if your remote and TV are connected by pressing the volume buttons on your remote. If the buttons change your TV’s volume - you’re good to go. If it hasn’t worked, repeat the steps as above with a different code.
  • When successfully connected, you can use your Sky remote to control both your TV and Sky, making your life that little bit easier.
