Question from AGL 077: Asked on 19/12/2025 Can I use any type of false logs to enhance the authentic log burners look
Hi, The AmberGlo AGL077 bioethanol stove is designed to burn bioethanol fuel only. You must not use any false, ceramic, or decorative logs inside or on the stove, as this could be unsafe, damage the unit, or interfere with proper airflow.
If you want a traditional log burner look, you can safely use decorative elements placed around the stove, but never on the burner or inside the fuel area. This ensures the stove remains both safe and fully functional.
Thank you.
Question from Jan: Asked on 11/12/2025 Hi - is there a recommended minimum space between the top of the burner and any wall/ceiling? We’d like to slot this inside the alcove left from previous owner boxing out the 1930s fireplace to get the appearance of a traditional burner without the expense of re-connecting the chimney.
Hi, For safe use of the AmberGlo AGL077 bioethanol stove:
Keep at least 50–60?cm (20–24?in) between the top of the flame and the ceiling or any overhead surface.
Leave 5–10?cm (2–4?in) at the sides and back; use extra clearance or fireproof lining if the alcove is made of combustible materials.
Ensure all surfaces around the stove are non-combustible (brick, stone, metal, etc.).
Make sure the room is well-ventilated.
This keeps the stove safe while giving the look of a traditional fireplace.
Thank you.
Question from Cam: Asked on 07/12/2025 What are the minimum clearances around the stove?
Hi,For the AmberGlo AGL077 Bioethanol flueless stove, it’s recommended to keep at least 60?cm (2?ft) of clearance on all sides from any combustible materials, maintain 60–90?cm (2–3?ft) of space above the stove to the ceiling or shelving, and ensure that curtains or drapes are at least 1?m (3?ft) away from the flame. The stove should be placed on a non-combustible, heat-resistant surface, and the room should be well-ventilated.Thanks!
Question from Debbie Moore: Asked on 30/11/2025 Does the stove have to stand on a slate? I have laminate flooring.
Hi, The AmberGlo AGL077 stove should be placed on a non-combustible surface, like slate or tile, to protect your laminate floor and ensure safe use.
Thank you.
Question from Neil: Asked on 19/11/2025 Can the tray inside be swapped out for something bigger to increase the flame size and heat output?
Can a flu be placed on top?
Hi Neil, you cannot swap the burner tray for a larger one, as it is designed to hold a fixed 1.53 litres of fuel, and it does not require a flue since bio-ethanol burns cleanly without smoke or soot. Thank you.
Question from Mike: Asked on 18/11/2025 Does this fire give off carbon monoxide
Hi Mike, this stove burns bioethanol, which produces a clean flame and does not normally emit carbon monoxide, but we always recommend using it in a well-ventilated room and having a CO alarm for safety. Thank you.
Question from Paul: Asked on 18/11/2025 HI. Is there a way of extinguishing the flames (damper or similar)?
Hi, To safely extinguish the AmberGlo AGL077, use the supplied snuffer to cover the burner and cut off the flame’s oxygen. Never use water, and wait at least 15 minutes before touching or refilling the stove.
Thank you.
Question from Jane: Asked on 16/11/2025 Can you use ceramic “fake” wood with this ?
Hi Jane, this stove cannot be used with ceramic or fake wood. It is designed for bioethanol fuel only, and adding decorative logs could be unsafe or damage the stove. Thank you.
Question from LISA: Asked on 27/10/2025 Hi. Is there a cubic square meter minimum requirement for this, or is it safe to use in any size room ( it is for a lounge 2.4m high x 4.3m wide x 3.29 m deep (34.58 cubic meters). Many thanks
Hi Lisa,For a stove like the Amberglo AGL077, the room size of 34.58 cubic meters (2.4m high x 4.3m wide x 3.29m deep) should generally be suitable, as long as the stove’s heat output is appropriate for the space. Typically, for every 1 kW of heat output, you need around 14-15 cubic meters of room volume. So, if the stove has an output of 5-7 kW, it should work well in a room of this size. Thanks!
