Question from Max: Asked on 07/02/2026 Hi. Does it have to be connected to electric? Or can I use it by lighting the hob with a clicker lighter?
Hi Max,The Hotpoint HDG5GCB 50?cm gas cooker must be connected to electricity to operate, because the electric supply powers the hob’s automatic ignition, the oven functions, and other features. You cannot light the burners safely with a separate lighter, as the cooker is designed to rely on its built-in electric ignition system. Thanks!
Question from HD5GCB: Asked on 27/01/2026 Hi does the hotpoint HDG5GCB require a standard 230v power supply as i have only a 12v supply and does the lid disconect the flow wgen closed as a safety feature .many thanks ...craig
Hi, The Hotpoint HDG5GCB gas cooker must be connected to a standard 220–240?V AC, 50?Hz mains supply. It cannot operate on a 12?V system. The lid should not be closed while the hob is hot. The official manual does not indicate that closing the lid automatically cuts off the gas, so this feature is not present on this model.
Thank you.
