Hi, For normal oven cooking (roasting or baking), the grill/roast pan is not used under the food. Food should be placed on the wire oven shelf at the appropriate shelf level (usually the middle of the oven depending on the dish). The grill pan is only used when grilling, where it is placed directly under the grill element with the grid inside it to catch any fat or juices.
