Midea Comfee A++ Smart Multi-Split 9000 + 12000 BTU Wall Mounted Air Conditioner with Heat Pump
Why buy me
- Two rooms, one outdoor unit – 9,000 BTU and 12,000 BTU indoor units run off a single condenser, covering up to ~60 m² total. One set of holes, one condenser, lower install cost than two monosplits.
- A++ cooling / A+ heating, SEER 6.1 – Inverter Quattro modulates compressor speed instead of cycling on and off, holding temperature at a fraction of full draw.
- Full heat pump, works to -15°C – cools in summer, heats in winter, dehumidifies year-round. Heat pump heating is several times more efficient than direct electric.
- Built-in Wi-Fi on both indoor units – control each room independently from your phone, set schedules, and use voice assistants. Each room is its own zone.
- Quiet from 25 dB(A) – the 9K indoor unit runs at 25 dB(A) on its lowest fan speed, quieter than a whisper. Suits bedrooms and nurseries.
- Golden Fin corrosion protection – the outdoor coil carries a protective coating for UK coastal and year-round weather exposure.
- Autoclean – after every cooling run, the indoor coil is dried out automatically to stop mould and odour building up in the unit.
- Two remotes with Follow Me – a temperature sensor sits in each remote, so the system reads the temperature where you actually are, not at the wall.
- Professional installation required – contains R32 and must be installed by an F-Gas qualified engineer. Pipe and cable kits sold separately.
The details
A dual split that earns its keep
The Midea Comfee dual split runs two rooms off one outdoor unit. Instead of a separate condenser bolted to the wall for every room - two sets of core drills, two condensers, two installs - system takes both indoor units on one circuit. It cuts the install bill, cuts the running cost against two independent systems, and keeps the outside of the property tidy.
The pairing is deliberate:
- 9,000 BTU indoor (2.64 kW) for a bedroom, nursery, home office or study, up to ~25 m².
- 12,000 BTU indoor (3.52 kW) for a lounge, dining room or open-plan space, up to ~35 m².
Cooling and heating, all year
This is a full heat pump, not a cooling-only unit. It delivers 5.57 kW of nominal heating and keeps working down to -15°C outdoor. Because a heat pump moves heat rather than generating it, it returns several units of heat for every unit of electricity - a COP of 3.71 at rated conditions, against 1.0 for a fan heater or an electric radiator. The dehumidify mode strips moisture out of the air in muggy weather and is genuinely useful for drying laundry indoors on a wet week.
Inverter Quattro
The Midea multisplit uses a rotary compressor with inverter control. Compressor speed ramps with demand rather than hammering on and off at full power, so the system reaches target temperature quickly and then throttles right down to hold it. Cooling input runs from 690 W at minimum to 2,000 W at maximum, with 1,635 W nominal - so a system that draws 2 kW flat out will typically be sitting at a few hundred watts once the room is where you want it. Declared efficiency is SEER 6.1 (A++) in cooling and SCOP 3.8 (A+) in heating on the average season, rising to SCOP 5.1 (A+++) in the warmer season profile.
Zoning is where the savings are
There is no sense conditioning rooms nobody is in. A dual split gives you two independent zones - run the bedroom overnight and leave the lounge off, or the other way round.
Built to be lived with
- Whisper quiet - 25 dB(A) minimum on the 9K indoor unit, 25 dB(A) on the 12K.
- Display off - the indoor LED display can be blacked out completely so it does not light the room at night.
- Sleep mode - progressively adjusts the setpoint overnight to stop the room getting too cold or too warm while you sleep.
- 24-hour timer - set the system to come on before you get home and shut off after you leave.
- Auto restart - after a power cut the units resume on their previous settings, and the louvre returns to its last angle.
- 1 W standby - negligible draw when the system is off at the remote.
- Self-diagnosis and refrigerant leak alarm - faults are surfaced as codes on the unit; a dedicated EC code flags irregular circuit temperatures caused by a refrigerant leak.
- Dual-side condensate drain - the drain can be run out of either side of the indoor unit, which gives the installer options on awkward walls.
- Golden Fin and anti-rust cabinet - corrosion-protected outdoor coil and casing.
- Mono/Multi indoor units - the CFW indoor units are cross-compatible with Comfee’ mono and multi outdoor units, so the range can be extended later.

Useful Information
The indoor and outdoor units are pre-gassed and sealed. Indoor units fit to the wall on the mounting plate supplied in the box. The outdoor condenser can be floor-mounted or wall-mounted on an optional bracket. Mains power is taken to the outdoor unit, with a 3-core-plus-earth interconnect to each indoor unit.
The factory charge covers 15 metres of total pipe run across both branches. Beyond that, the installer must weigh in an additional 12 g of R32 per metre. Minimum recommended run is 3 m per branch; maximum equivalent run is 25 m per branch and 40 m total.
This unit must be installed by an F-Gas qualified air conditioning engineer. Please ensure the fitter reads the user manual in full before installing. These units contain a gas (R32) governed by F-Gas regulations, which must be handled by qualified F-Gas personnel.
Note: To reduce Global Warming Potential, the outdoor unit footprint and running cost, the outdoor unit has a rating lower than the sum of the indoor units’ BTU. This does not affect cooling or heating in individual rooms – the units are variable inverters and balance capacity between rooms to reach target temperature in the shortest time. Please size rooms per our guidance or call for tech support.
