  • Do cooker hoods have to vent outside?
  • Is it worth having a cooker hood?
  • What is the difference between a cooker hood and extractor fan?

      A cooker hood is a general name for a mechanical fan installed above a cooker, hob or stove. There are two types of hoods; extractor fans vent steam, odours and airborne food particles outside; and recirculatory fans filter the air and channel it back into the kitchen.

  • Do cooker hoods need filters?

      Yes, all cooker hoods require filters. Grease filters are used on recirculatory and extractor fans to capture grease particles. In addition, recirculatory hoods feature carbon filters, which capture food odours and leave your kitchen looking and smelling fresh.

  • Do cooker hoods need to be on an external wall?

      If your cooker hood recirculates the air, it does not need to be installed on an external wall. If you have an extractor fan that vents air outside, you will find it easier to install it on an outside wall; however, if that is not possible, just run the ducting along the wall or ceiling.
